Shillong conflict

Shillong conflict
It was bound to happen someday and it did. The conflict could be said as a bottled up emotions of the public brewed over the last few years. Mainly over the checking of influx coming into the state. The authorities or the state has been denying and ignored this matter for too long and hence, results in agitation. The incident at ‘Motphran’ however, could just be a catalyst that let loose the bottled emotions of the local public over the fact that unchecked influx to the state could endanger the ethnic group of the state.

The solution to checking illegal immigrants entering to the state through implementation of the INNER LINE PERMIT has been proposed many times over the past few years but the proposal has been stalled or ignored for reasons unknown to the public.
This ignorance by the state over the concerned emotions of the ethnic groups has brewed a perfect alcohol that has intoxicated the state in the present scenario.

The conflict could have been avoided if the law makers of the state are not too busy distributing ‘tin roofs’ ‘blankets’ and ‘financial aid’ to the public but instead make laws and looking into matters that is beneficial to all citizens and issues that could have avoided such grave incidents in the present scenario of the state.

The incompetency and unprofessional diplomacy shown by the authorities concerned of the state has proven to be provocative and led to further agitation by the ethnic groups in the state. Further, contradict articles on the present scenario by oblivious intellect class of reporters and writers has given it a whole new perspectives which is both bad and good to the incident.
As far as ground zero reports, straight from friends pelting stones on the police, the conflict spread over the fact that the authorities concerned of checking riots are emotionally driven and hence created more provocation which led to further agitation from the agitated and frustrated ethnic group of the state.

The conflict has been tagged as a communal riot in the national news but however, it is just an outburst of concerned feeling and emotions of the ethnic groups that has been brewed up over the years due to ignorance from the state authorities.

The peace and tranquility in the state has been disturbed simply over the ignorance and oblivion nature of the state and failed system of governance by elected representatives and bureaucracy.

As for the fact that the ethnic group of the state being called communal is a pure blatant and belligerent accusation. Different communities from different caste, creed, religion and race are residing peacefully in the state over the past years. Though we cannot deny the fact that the ‘son of the soil’ feeling is always there but still, peace and tranquility is maintained and local ethnic groups adjusted and respected the space given to other different groups residing in the state. Despite the fact that Shillong is geographically small, it is diversified in nature and home to different caste, creed, religion, race and cultures. Hence, tagging it communal would be injustice and unfair.

This incident could prove to bring structural change in the society and to the State in the years to come. It is a wake up call to the governance and bureaucracy of the state that such matters concerning conflicts between groups could not be ignored and avoided. It could prove to be fatal to the unity and integrity of the country as a whole.

How India’s pledges in the Paris Agreement has led the country into driving on small wheels

With recent upgrades on the country’s Motor Vehicle Acts, automotive enthusiasts across the country are at roar with the Government’s sudden implementation on banning modification on their vehicles. This has led to some felt suppressed and snatched of their liberty while others with a smirk enjoyed the banning of this culture which is seen a nuisance to most.

With promise of promoting road safety, this law has baffled many enthusiast as how automotive modification led to bad road safety. Though some reasons for such are agreeable, the most are not so convincing enough to be interdict.

There has to be a greater purpose for the implementation of this law, reasons could be, one of the many steps taken by the country in its plan for climate action which is known as NATIONALLY DETERMINED CONTRIBUTIONS. NDCs are action plans contributed by countries to tackle climate change to meet the goals of the “Paris Agreement”, in which our country has pledged to reduce carbon emissions.

Even though India’s carbon emissions per capita is triple times lesser than its counterpart, it falls victim to its own population. With a much higher population than the other countries, India’s carbon footprint as a whole is much Greater than its counterparts. Victim to its population, India’s diplomacy got bullied and made to play by the norms.

Blame it on failed or incompetent diplomacy, the citizens are found bruised with stringent Laws and maybe with higher fossils fuel cost. The pledges made by India has put its citizens in a burden but all this burden for a more pleasing face to its counterparts.

This might also explains why no Indian manufacturers are not producing tyres of bigger sizes. With recent quota on tyres imports the market has suffered with availability of oversized tyres.

Jotting the dots, it does draw a picture of India’s commitment to its NDCs, which it has pledged to please it’s bullies.

Though it is a step towards the right direction, ethics must not be neglected, Indians are promised liberty and it being a sovereign state, foreign conditions should not cost it’s citizens freedom.

D

Never a faint of hope would be shown, the ever opaque being that suck in light and not reflecting back.

Light of different wavelengths come and go, only to be sucked in without hope. Reason for being, was never the Hyde of the being. Just simply the idea of not giving false hope was all. Commitment was one thing it cannot promise. The distant and diplomatic feeling shown was obvious.

Jumping from one light to another was tiring, hoping to catch the wavelength worth reflecting back.

As saying goes, the universe has its ways of making one’s destiny.

The jumping around was part of the universe’s play, leading the opaque being to endless amount of rays to finally find the right wavelength to shine back.

A light so unexpectedly punctured a hole so tiny, it spread like cancer. Only to open up a reflecting being of the once opaque.

“D” was the ray, she shone so bright the opaque shed off all cloaks, reflecting back what “D” gave.

She, with rays so strong could either make him the brightest ever or shattered him to pieces.

Little she knew, the light reflected back only to her. The once opaque was ever opaque to other lengths of waves, except her’s.

Hers was an exception, the manipulation of the universe. Intertwined, dependent, organs of a life, the halfs of a whole and yes the very essentials to their own life.

Without D, he never shone.

Seperated, he ceased to function.
